At 10 months of age I contracted meningitis and went into seizures. I was rushed to the Children's hospital and put in intensive care for 10 days. I recovered but had scoliosis, my left hand and arm's circulation was affected and the vision in my left eye. I went to Sandringham Primary and Sandringham High Schools, and from school joined my mom and dad in the family business, 1982, Beaucoup Interiors. Our first shop was at 74 Grant Ave, Norwood from the early 1970's, we then moved to Balfour Park Shopping Centre in 1987. I had been travelling for 2 years and came back from England to help set up the new shop. In 1998 we moved the shop and furniture factory, Triple N Designs, to 110 Johannesburg Rd, Lyndhurst. In 2007 my dad retired and in 2010 my mom retired. I bought the house at 320 Louis Botha Ave, Orange Grove and moved the business here, in December 2013. The house was built in 1940 and has beautiful pressed ceilings, Teak doors and frames and Oregon floorboards.
in 1993 I started taking art lessons in the evenings with Joan Broadly, and have been painting since. We are busy preparing 1 room at work for an art gallery, and I have a studio here too. I live 400 metres away. I am also an avid Astrology student. and currently have 4 dogs and 3 cats including 2 Siamese cats, 1 white cat, 2 Jack Russell crosses, a Toy Pom cross and a rescue greyhound. i have a 8000 litre fishpond full of fish and feed the wild birds every day, with seed, fruit, peanut butter and crushed peanuts. My friend Peta Dunn is coming from Cape Town to run Beaucoup Interiors and i will become a full time artist, and spend the rest of my time gardening at home. I have 8 staff who do the furniture restoring and reupholstery, 4 of whom I sponsored to get International Certificates in the trade.
